"
My father Tom was a migrant Englishman, and a chippy by trade. Post World War 2, he set sail for the promised land of Australia to seek a life of freedom, of opportunity, of sunshine, and of love. This great country became his home, like so many others before him and since.
His working life relied on a cluster of tradesmen. His work opportunity came from a cluster of farms. His work vehicle held a cluster of tools. And his little town in Western Victoria was a cluster of diverse people. In my world, true productivity and authentic quality has always emanated from a cluster of some sort. It is what inspired a cluster of footballers who forever changed the game of Australian Rules football in 2008.
At the heart of each cluster are genuine people who chase a dream, work hard, and live with humility and goodness in their heart. And it is why I became friendly with the 36 Short family who share a similar story to that of my father, but starting in the backblocks of ancient Europe.
My bond with the 36 Short crew was forged over 25 years ago. They too exuded the values of hard work and humility. They too have honoured their father Pando's Macedonian heritage, and chased his dream of sharing his distilling products with the world."
