Our Story

Two brothers, with one passion,
to realise their late father's dream.
At 36 Short, everything starts with family.
Our journey began on our dad Pando’s farm in Virginia, South Australia. He taught us how to distill-just as his father did before him in Macedonia and before he passed, he asked us to share his Rakia recipe with the world.
It wasn’t just a drink. It was his legacy.
A proud man, Pando believed in hard work, authentic food, and quality drinks shared with the people you love. The kind of drink that shows up at every occasion - good or bad. For our family, that drink was always Rakia. It was only right that it became the beginning of our story. In 2014, we became the first to license and sell Rakia in Australia.
We named our brand after his suit size: 36 Short. A running family joke that felt like the perfect mix of heart and humour-just like him.
Since then, we’ve expanded to include award-winning gins, liqueurs, vodka, whiskies and even extra virgin olive oil. Everything we make uses ingredients from our family farm or is sourced locally, with no artificial colours, no preservatives and absolutely no shortcuts.
We’re proud to be pioneers - makers of Australia’s first blood orange gin and best-selling limoncello - and we’re just getting started.
